The main component of the automotive mold is the cover mold. This type of mold is mainly a cold die. "Automobile mold" in a broad sense is the general term for molds used to manufacture all parts on automobiles. For example, stamping molds, injection molds, forging molds, casting wax molds, glass molds, etc.
The stamping parts on the car body are roughly divided into cover parts, beam parts and general stamping parts. The stampings that can clearly characterize the image of a car are car covers. Therefore, more specific car molds can be said to be "automobile cover stamping molds." Referred to as automobile cover die. For example, the trimming die for the outer panel of the front door, the punching die for the inner panel of the front door, etc.
Of course, not only the body of the car has stamping parts. All the molds of stamping parts on automobiles are called "auto stamping molds". In summary, it is:
1. Automobile mold is the general term for the molds that make all the parts on the car.
2. Auto stamping die is a die for stamping all stamping parts on the car.
3. The automobile body stamping die is a die for punching all stamping parts on the automobile body.
4. The stamping die for automobile cover parts is a die for punching all the cover parts on the car body.
Now in our section, when it comes to automobile molds, it seems that they all refer to automobile cover stamping dies. In order not to be confused with the generalized automobile die, the automobile cover die is not used when posting.
There are many forms of stamping dies, and dies are classified according to the nature of work, mold structure, and mold materials.
Generally can be classified according to the following main features:
1. According to the nature of the process
a. Punching die: a die that separates the material along the closed or open contour line. Such as blanking die, punching die, cutting die, cutting die, trimming die, cutting die, etc.
b. Bending die: A die that bends and deforms a blank or other blank along a straight line (bending line) to obtain a workpiece with an angle and shape.
c. Drawing die: It is a die that makes blanks of sheet metal into open hollow pieces, or further changes the shape and size of hollow pieces.
d. Forming mold: It is a mold that directly copies and forms the blank or semi-finished workpiece according to the shape of the convex and concave molds, and the material itself only produces local plastic deformation. Such as bulging die, shrinking die, expanding die, undulating forming die, flanging die, shaping die, etc.
2. Classification according to the degree of process combination
a. Single process die: a die that completes only one stamping process in one stroke of the press.
b. Compound die: There is only one station, in one stroke of the press, two or more stamping processes are completed on the same station at the same time.
c. Progressive die (also known as continuous die): in the feed direction of the blank, there are two or more stations, in a single stroke of the press, two or two stations are completed at different stations one by one More than one stamping process.
3. Classification by product processing method
According to different product processing methods, the molds can be divided into five categories: punching and shearing molds, bending molds, drawing molds, forming molds and compression molds.
a. Punching and shearing dies: the work is done by shearing. Commonly used forms include shearing dies, blanking dies, punching dies, trimming dies, whole-edge dies, drawing dies and punching dies.
b. Bending mold: It is a shape that bends the flat blank into an angle, depending on the shape, accuracy and production volume of the parts, there are many different forms of molds, such as ordinary bending die, cam bending die, curling Die, arc bending die, bending punch die and twisting die, etc.
c. Drawing mold: The drawing mold is to make the flat blank into a seamless container with bottom.
d. Forming die: refers to various local deformation methods to change the shape of the blank. Its forms include convex forming die, curling edge forming die, necking forming die, hole flange forming die, and round edge forming die.
e. Compression mold: It uses strong pressure to make the metal blank flow and deform into the desired shape. Its types include extrusion die, embossing die, stamping die, and end pressure die.
